It is May 29, 2015, twenty years from the inception of Maverick Productions; my first day having a small business, and the first time I took a huge leap of faith in myself. It’s been a whirlwind of a time, both professionally and personally, and I couldn’t be happier.
In 1995 when I was 17, I began my Company while I was transitioning from high school to college. My first project was a montage of a retired gentleman who traveled the world, and my task was to create a video that documented his journey. Amidst going to college to focus on degrees in business and engineering, I also worked on my own business when I had the time.
The industry was small.
There really wasn’t a viable Internet and social media did not exist. MP3 files were the new craze of listening to music and VHS was the standard delivery method. Advertising consisted of a few publications, the phone book, and in-person networking.
I often get asked where the name Maverick Productions is derived. I initially began with Marshall Arts, but after a few years, my brothers said I was a Real Maverick in the industry, and so Maverick Productions was officially born.
As time progressed, I had the opportunity to intern with the Walt Disney Company in show production and management which really propelled my business from both the consumer aspect as well as the corporate side.
I graduated in 2002 from the University of Baltimore with degrees in marketing, business management, and contract law, all of which have been invaluable to my business foundation success.
It’s been quite the journey of business, technology, and the overall industry. Having produced over 1,400 events/projects among social events, weddings, and commercial / corporate services, I’ve been able to travel to thirty-eight states and abroad, and the opportunities have been priceless.
I could not have done this without my clients entrusting me. Thank you to everyone who has believed in what I do and thanks to all of the industry professionals I have had the opportunity to work with over the years.
Above all, thank you to my wife, and most importantly, thank you to my two kiddos who have been my biggest supporters and inspiration with my journey.
What the next twenty years will hold is anyone’s guess, but until then, let it begin!
